A tax credit up to $1500 (30% of the cost of equipment) is available for high efficiency heating and cooling equipment under the American Recovery and Reinvestment act of 2009.
High efficiency gas furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps that meet certain guidelines are eligible for the rebate.
- Gas furnaces must be at least 95% AFUE
- Air conditioners must be at least 16 SEER, 13 EER
- Heat pumps must be at least 15 SEER, 12 EER
Home improvement tax credits are available for home improvements placed in service from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010.
